CHRISTIAN SINGLES : GUIDE TO
ENDING LONELINESS AND DEPRESSION Cont.
Chapter 17. God’s Sky Mirror Effect vs. satan’s
Smoke And Mirrors Routine
Imagine seeing apparitions of cities in an area where none exist;
complete with trees, buildings, and people milling about! In Death
Valley, across the vast salt flats, a train of four wagons, each pulled
by a team of mules and drivers wearing red shirts move across the great
expanse. They are oblivious to a group of onlookers, mouths agape and
mesmerized by the ghostly sight.
Here in the desert I’ve seen mirages of sparkling blue lakes,
sometimes surrounded by trees and I thought about early explorers and
thirsty gold rush panners mistaking these mirages for lakes of fresh
water. Not far from where I live, the Jean Dry Lake is known for
sightings of water, trees, and an occasional freight train that barrels
through the pass where no train tracks exist!
This is the stuff of legends, such as The Flying Dutchman, a phantom
ghost ship, seen moving above water level on the horizon. The best known
of the more complex mirages were named Fata Morgana, derived from the
enchantress of King Arthur legends, Morgan la Fey. Visions of her under
the sea city were believed to lure seamen to their deaths.
Some observers of Fata Morgana phenomenon have reported seeing
cities, with people, buildings, grazing flocks, and in other locations,
seeing great armies marching or ships and more where they do not exist;
but in fact, they exist hundreds of miles away. Simply put, the sky and
it’s moisture act as mirrors and then refracted light sends these specters
over the horizon and into the sight of astonished viewers. It usually
happens when layers of air, cold and warm are just right, and most Fata
Morgana are seen over the oceans, and on mostly flat land in the frigid
north and deserts. It is fun to think of ancient people viewing these
strange phantom cities, etc., and then watching them disappear!
