Chapter 26. Solution #1: Speak Life And Blessing
Upon Yourself And Family
“Positive Thinking” Books Are Best Sellers, But
God Thought Of It First!
Christian singles, my heart goes out to those in the New Age belief
system, trying to find peace, and power to live an abundant life.
Tragically, they won’t find the peace that surpasses all human
understanding, but will be caught up in one movement after another,
promoted by very creative writers and speakers who will “tickle
their ears” with new ideas and discoveries. It is a very lucrative
field, and many spend much of their income, going to “readings” as
a psychic tells them their future, or dubious advice on what to do
about a troubling romance or family problem. Others buy crystals and
amulets for protection from evil spirits, or for healing. All of these
needs could be taken care of, free of charge, by attending a church
that practices the Gifts of the Spirit. However, Word of Knowledge
would be given by the Holy Spirit, not a “Spirit Guide.” Some
people I’ve talked to, who have left the New Age Movement have said
that they found no joy or contentment. They said their hearts were in
turmoil, instead of peaceful, fearing the future instead of having
faith. Some feared reincarnation, knowing that they might not be
coming back to a free country, but may be born into extreme poverty or
tyranny the next time. I’ve met many New Age folks and they seemed
to be kind hearted, only wanting good things for others and
themselves. They were on the outer perimeter of the movement, some
driven away from one of the dead churches, others just searching for
meaning in their lives. It appears to me that churches of all
denominations should be far more welcoming to newcomers, and they
could attract more people if every member was taught how to welcome
new visitors, and not rely on “greeters” at the door. The greeters
do not have time to invite visitors to special events, concerts,
speakers, and the many programs churches offer to those with special
needs, such as classes for the bereaved, divorced, and programs for
singles. Pastors cannot attend to the needs of newcomers, along with
his or her duties. After all, Sunday is a working day for them, not a
day leisure.
