1. Shop at the store where you
save the most, but bring along current ads from their
competitors. Ask first if they will give you the item
for their competitor’s sale price. This is real
guerrilla shopping and it is not for the faint of heart!
You are letting the store know you are at war with high
prices, and you will take no prisoners! Have an attack
plan before you go in, and you can save several dollars
each time you shop, by bringing in their competitor’s
sales ads and asking for (as an example) Porterhouse
steaks for $1.99 a pound, a price their competitor was
losing money at, but willing to offer to get you into the
store.
2. Another savings plan: Collect
coupons of the brands you prefer to buy. Then watch for
the store to have a sale on the same item. Most stores
will honor both sale prices, so you save twice as much.
Some stores will offer free any item that was on
sale, but the register mistakenly charged the regular
price. You will need a notepad and pen as you shop to
write down every sale price, so you can watch as the items
are checked out, to be sure you were not charged the
regular price.
3. Generally you can save money
if you can make dinners from scratch, but if you can’t
cook, or you prefer frozen or ready-made food, you still
can save and prepare a satisfying and healthful meal by
making a large side salad to go along with your ready made
dinner.
